MANAGEMENT – COOPERATIVE MEMBERS

The Agricultural Livestock Social Cooperative of Mesotopos was founded in 1923 in the village of Mesotopos, Lesvos, and has been operating continuously ever since. Our Cooperative has 170 registered active members, managing a livestock population of 35,000 sheep and goats, with an annual production of 4,000,000 kilos of sheep and goat milk. The highest governing bodies are the General Assembly and the Board of Directors, which, together with the Supervisory Board, manage the Cooperative in accordance with our statute and the provisions of Law 4673/2020 and the Law on Cooperatives. The Board of Directors consists of seven members and the Supervisory Board of three members; both are elected by the General Assembly for a five-year term. In 2017, the Cooperative was registered in the National Registry of Agricultural Cooperatives and other Collective Entities, as the supervision of agricultural cooperatives is now under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Financial Audits and Inspection (Competent Authority) of the Ministry of Rural Development. In 2023, it was also registered in the General Registry of Social and Solidarity Economy Entities (SSEO), and the word "SOCIAL" was officially added to its name. Our headquarters are located in western Lesvos, in the village of Mesotopos — a semi-mountainous livestock village with approximately one thousand inhabitants.
